Abstract Instructions


In 2017 the International Pelvic Pain Society is hosting the 3rd World Congress on Abdominal-Pelvic Pain at the Annual Conference. This year's conference is organized into 9 cluster abdominal-pelvic pain topics. The abstract committee is requesting abstracts from leading world researchers and will choose on abstract for each cluster as an oral presentation during its respective cluster at the scientific meeting.

  • Industry professionals are not permitted to present abstracts.
  • Encore abstracts may be submitted for consideration. (Encore Abstracts are abstracts previously presented at another conference or previously published in a journal.)
  • Trial in Progress abstracts in all phases of clinical research (phases I to III) may be submitted for consideration.
    • It is expected that abstracts submitted as Trial in Progress are ongoing trials that have not reached any protocol-specified endpoints for analysis and consequently will only require the completion of two (2) sections: Background and Trial design.
    • Please note the following:
      • Recruitment must have already begun or have been completed by the abstract submission deadline.
      • Abstracts including results or preliminary data will be rejected.
      • Abstracts will be reviewed by the Program Committee and considered on the merits of the scientific and clinical rationale of the trial.
      • Trial in Progress abstracts will not be considered for Podium (Oral) presentation

Abstract Specifications:

  • Abstracts will be collected only via the online system.
  • New Topics this year! View this year's topic list
  • The abstract text must be limited to 3200 characters which includes spaces and headers.
  • The abstract text must contain the following content: Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusion, and summary. The detail of the abstract does not necessarily have to contain headings for these objectives, methods, results, conclusions and summary; however, the abstract must contain this information.
  • The full name, address and institution of the primary author must be included.
  • Only ACOG approved abbreviations can be used.
  • No tables can be included in the abstract.
  • Top abstracts, from among nine categories will be considered for podium/oral presentation selection; in addition to poster presentation. All other abstracts will be reviewed as possible poster presentations.

Instructions on entering your abstract via the online system:

  • Click the "My Account" link above to enter the system and login if you have not already done so. If you are not an IPPS member and do not already have a submission account, you can create a new submission account by clicking the link above "Register New Account".
  • On the submission form, you will need to enter your "Abstract Title" in the title field, indicate the topic, enter your "Abstract Text" body only in the abstract body field provided; complete the presenting author information, and the authors not presenting as appropriate.
  • When indicating the the full name, address and institution of the primary author, please list all of the necessary information for that author.
  • Do not enter the presenting author in both the presenter section and the additional authors' section as this will duplicate that author.
  • Multiple Affiliations for any author may be entered separated by a semi-colon (;).
